Can you migrate from Exchange 2016 or Exchange 2019?

Do we need hybrid Exchange?

Not always. A hybrid configuration gives you coexistence between on-premises and cloud mailboxes, which suits larger or phased migrations. For smaller organisations doing a clean cutover, a simpler approach often works better. We will recommend the right approach based on your environment and requirements.

Can shared mailboxes be migrated?

Yes. Shared mailboxes, room mailboxes and equipment mailboxes can all be migrated to Exchange Online. The key is to review and document the permissions (Full Access, Send As, Send on Behalf) before migration, as these need to be recreated in the cloud environment.

What happens to public folders?

Public folders can be migrated to Microsoft 365 public folders, converted to shared mailboxes, or moved into SharePoint depending on how they are being used. We assess each public folder hierarchy individually because the right approach depends on the content, size and business usage.

Can we remove the Exchange server afterwards?
